Located in the "heart of Cole Valley," this 1-bed, 1-bath, 1,030-square foot home recently landed on the market with an asking price of $849,000. While most folk would balk at paying that kind of cold, hard cash for a manse with only one bedroom, we can't help falling in love with this place. A contemporary structure like this is rarely found around this city. Here's a little back story on the building.
The foyer stairs present a problem. As you can see, they aren't stiletto friendly. We'd suggest covering them with a surface that's doesn't look like swiss cheese. The living room has very tall ceilings, and an entire wall has been turned into a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf with ladder. Are you swooning yet? The kitchen's been tricked out and glossed over with maple cabinetry, brushed metal hardware and all the fancy stainless steel appliances you should get when you're paying close to $850K for a one bedroom house. Off of the kitchen is a dining nook with access to a porch that has a nice view of the surrounding neighbors. The bedroom houses the spacious (and only) bathroom in the place, which we predict can be a bit awkward if you aren't a fan of making your bed every morning and then having unexpected guests show up to say hello (and using your bathroom). The backyard is very charming, and includes a small wine cellar/home office. If working from home wasn't already distracting, imagine having an entire wall of booze next to you when you try to get those spreadsheets done. What do you think, dear readers? Will this home sell at its current asking?
