Unhappy in Oakland

Much ado has been made of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s on-again, off-again plan to pack up and move out of Oakland and buy a San Francisco fixer-upper, where it would shack up with other regional government agencies. CityInsider has details on the MTA's leaving Oakland for San Francisco, a break-up bitterly contested by Oakland politicos, including State Senator State Sen. Mark DeSaulnier, who's ordered up an audit of MTA- a delaying tactic in government squabbles not unlike that dreaded NIMBY-weapon, the Discretionary Review- to keep Oakland from getting thrown under a bus.
