More Central Subway Controversy

New, 12 comments

As if it wasn't enough that basically everyone is saying the Central subway is a pretty horrible idea, the SFMTA just made plans with very controversial artist for art in the station.Tom Otterness, of Brooklyn, started his career back in 1977 with a snuff film, called "Shot Dog Film" (you get the drift) but has since apologized and moved on to cartoony bronze sculptures, as seen in the New York City subway. The SFMTA board said they weren't aware of the controversy surrounding the audience -- perhaps they have never heard of a thing called "Google." The Central Subway won't be in use for another several years, so there's still a lot of time to bicker over public art. [SF Examiner]
