Although more than 600 people have signed a petition in support of it, Safeway's expansion project for one of its stores at 6310 College Avenue in Oakland near Berkely is still being met with much opposition from local residents. The latest design is by by Lowney Architecture and doubles the square footage of the existing Safeway.
