Rent 4 Life

It's true, buying is cheaper than renting is most U.S. cities. But according to real estate website Trulia, it's cheaper to rent than buy in 12% of the 50 largest cities, including San Francisco. Rock-bottom interest rates have added a lot of weight to the buy side of the scale. The overnight average rate for a 30-year fixed was just 4.19% on Monday, according to Bankrate.com. Seattle and San Francisco both have purchase prices that are 24 times rents. In short: don't ever give up your lease for your rent-controlled apartment. Ever. [CNNMoney]
