Back in 2010 Rachel Marie Smith allegedly scammed an estimated $100,000 from her victims by accepting apartment deposits ranging from $5,100 to $5,600. She'd then postpone their move-in date and they'd never hear from her again. Four of her victims may soon get their money back, as Smith is expected to strike a plea deal today that includes restitution to victims, according to the District Attorney's Office. Smith is charged with eight counts of grand theft and obtaining money under false pretenses in connection with the four victims, Assistant District Attorney Seth Steward said. [SF Examiner/Curbed SF]
