Detecting the Invisible

San Francisco officials are pushing people to pump up a new state law that would require residential property owners to install carbon monoxide detectors in homes and apartments that have a gas-fueled furnace or other appliance. "This is a sensible, life-saving, injury-prevention legislation," said Mayor Ed Lee in a statement. Carbon monoxide gas kills 500 people a year in the U.S., and injures 20,000 more. [SF Examiner]
