Studio O+A, which was responsible for the design of Facebook's headquarters in the Stanford Research Park along with a slew of other tech companies like Yelp, Paypal and StubHub, has recently completed the AOL offices in Palo Alto. The project area is a whopping 73,024 square feet. According to ArchDaily, the existing space had "retained a distinctly 1980s corporate aesthetic." Think drop ceilings and high cubicles. Studio O + A gutted the space and created "a spatial equivalent to the transparency that AOL was bringing to every aspect of its business." The space could be described as "funky industrial," as most of its finishes are raw materials and the furnishings are very modern and colorful. While we certainly think the design is impressive, we sincerely hope that the workers get some actual work done. Those ping pong tables and comfy sofas are calling our name.
