The Supes are scheduled to vote today on whether to displace over 1,500 tenants at Park Merced. The plan is to demolish the post-WWII-vintage housing, mostly of the low-rise garden apartment variety, and replace with high-rises. Tenants won't be evicted, they'll be moved into the existing high-rises as units become vacant. The plan is to spread it out over the next few decades but "activists" do not believe rent protections will be upheld. Will the Supes will punk out again and postpone for further study? [SF Gate]
