USS Cesar E. Chavez

NBC Bay Area tells us that the U.S. Navy will honor Cesar Chavez by naming its new vessel the USS Cesar E. Chavez. Chavez's family will fly to San Diego tomorrow for the dedication ceremony. Chavez, a labor and civil rights leader, died in 1993. In March of this year, the U.S. Park Service named his compound in Delano, California a U.S. Historic Landmark. [NBC Bay Area]
