Location Scouting

The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is fit to open a second campus, and "knowledgable sources" have offered up six of the possible locations to Berkeleyside. The alleged candidates are: the Richmond Field Station, which is presumed to be the front runner for the second campus; The Golden Gate Fields, which is a 30-acre parcel that sits mainly in Albany, although a section also sits in Berkeley; The Aquatic Park in Berkeley, which is a 12.5 acre parcel; a 64 acre parcel known as the Brooklyn Basin along Oakland's waterfront; a portion of the old Alameda Naval Air Station in Alameda and the Wareham Development's sites straddling Berkeley and Emeryville. The lab sent out a press release stating that it won't select a final location until November. [Berkeleyside]
