It's The Little Things

It's unlocking that access to the Bay Area for us? High speed rail got an additional $300M yesterday from the Federal Government (they make it sounds so easy) which will enable it to move the $43B project a few feet closer to San Francisco, all the way up to Chowchilla. The currently-planned construction from Bakersfield to Fresno will only cost $6.3B, with the remaining cash to hook up LA-Bakersfield and Fresno-SF. Seems the extra bucks came from Florida's refusal of $2B in funds for their own bullet train, and their loss is Chowchilla's gain. For full-body high speed rail coverage, check out Curbed LA. They're all over it. [SF Gate plus previously at Curbed LA]
