The Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theatre is the first landmark in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood to be inducted to the National Register of Historic Places. Registration awarded by the National Parks Service, protects the 122-year-old San Francisco Victorian building from any changes not authorized by the State Historic Preservation Office. One of the first steps in getting grant monies to continue the Opera House renovation, with a view to making it a cultural and community hub for Bayview. Renovations began in earnest after Nancy Pelosi earmarked Federal funds for it in 2005. That may not happen again for a while. [via SF Gate, Photo Credit: David Green/Found SF]
