Local Hotshots Celebrate Affordable Housing Grand Opening

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, along with SF Mayor Ed Lee and Supervisor Eric Mar, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for St. Peter's Place, a housing facility for the developmentally disabled in the Richmond. "We know there's a deep need for affordable housing for developmentally disabled adults in San Francisco and across the nation; St. Peter's Place is a model," Leader Pelosi said. St. Peter's worked with the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center for the construction, and the project received funds from the Mayor's Office of Housing, the state and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. As we've mentioned before, St. Peter's Place was gunning for LEED status, and it's slated to receive LEED Silver and GreenPoint Rated certifications. "I have been wanting to live on my own for a very long time and I have been on a wait list for the last 6 years," said Sarah Hoffman, new resident. [Curbed Inbox, photo via Chris Cahill]
