Hailing Cabs Could Get Easier

New, 10 comments

The Municipal Transportation Agency, which manages cab operations in San Francisco, is well on its way to providing an app for smartphones that frustrated cab customers can use to contact and request the nearest taxi. The proposal states that all 1,500 cabs would be outfitted with the technology, and the MTA would pay for the plan for the first year of its program. Luxor Cab is bummed, because it's already invested $100,000 in a similar smartphone application. However, Mark Gruberg, a spokesman for the United Taxicab Workers said many cab drivers support the program. [SF Examiner]
