Adding to the intrigue are amendments introduced by the Planning Department that would allow not only the Fairmont another chance to approve its plans, but would give the Palace Hotel, the Grand Hyatt Hotel and the Mark Hopkins Hotel a chance to convert to condos as well. The plot thickens as the hotel worker's union and Fairmont owners can't agree on much of anything and the Mayor's office stalls on extending the hotel owner's application extension. And how did those other hotels sneak in on the condo-conversion action? The stuff of hotel owner's dreams and union nightmares. [SF Examiner and previously on Curbed SF]
