More Money More Problems

Before he left us for Sacramento, former Mayor Gavin Newsom wrote a to-do list. One item he thought would definitely be accomplished was securing a permanent, daily home for a smaller version of Project Homeless Connect, a bi-monthly place for homeless people to access services. It's the heath department's job to get it done, but they don't want to use the $500,000 Newson set aside for it. Barbara Garcia, the health director that Newsom picked, said she won't open a new program while potentially closing another. Newsom directed his department heads to find ways to cut their budgets by up to 20 percent, so for now she's holding on to the $500,000. [SF Gate]
