CW Nevius's column today brings us the heartwarming story of a NIMBY gone mild. Over in the Tenderloin, the new owner of Little Bird Coffeehouse wanted nothing more than to follow in her predecessor's footsteps and have outdoor patio seating. A neighbor, concerned over a possible fire code violation, wrote a strongly worded letter. And the battled ensued. Turns out all that was needed to calm things down was a good old fashioned public shaming, culminating in the neighborhood activist's in-person apology for his tone. There you have it, NIMBYs and NIMBY-targets: Talk it out. [SF Gate]
