Here's a non-newsflash for you: the city hasn't raised the number of tenancies in common that can convert to condos. It's still 200. Of course, with 681 people applying to convert over 2,300 units, the lottery has become an annual event of disappointment for TIC owners with big dreams of having a regular mortgage and ever being able to sell their home. Mayor Ed Lee is looking for a compromise between TIC owners and tenants groups who say that lifting the conversion cap would reduce rental inventory and raise the cost of renting. One possibility: bringing back Gav's plan to allow line-cutting... for a fee. [SF Examiner]
