New High Protection Roofing Co. and Salvador Trucking Service are in the hot seat for allegedly illegally dumping over 100 tons of roofing materials and other debris throughout the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood over the past five months, SFist reports. Perhaps this discovery was a result of the San Francisco Department of the Environment and Department of Public Works' attempt to encourage snitching in the neighborhood about illegal dumping? On Monday, City Attorney Dennis Herrera filed a lawsuit against both companies seeking maximum civil penalties and damages. According to the lawsuit, San Francisco's Department of Public Works has spent more than a combined $61,000 on dealing with the situation.
