Muddy Waters

New, 1 comment

Last year, Berkeley residents voted against a measure that would impose a special tax to maintain the public pools in Berkeley. So what did the city do when they shut down Willard Pool? They filled it with mud. Then about a dozen UC Berkeley students spent this past Saturday cleaning up the premises and hauling dirt to place on top of soil. "It will be some kind of garden," said Phil Harper-Cotton, a city recreation program supervisor. "Whether it will be vegetables or flowers, we haven't figured it out." [Berkeleyside]
