As much fun as it must be to feed stale pieces of bread to packs of pigeons, it's still illegal. San Francisco's Department of Public Works is taking illegal bird feeding more seriously. This week, the department sent out a note to residents warning them not to feed the feathered rats. In addition to becoming fat and lazy, the birds are also more likely to breed when overfed. A healthy, normal pigeon breeds about three times a year, but an overfed pigeons can breed up to eight times a year, which, of course, results in overpopulation. [NBC Bay Area, photo via]
