Offing the Cabs

New, 12 comments

Unlike most other major metropolitan areas, San Francisco does not have a constant demand for cabs. They're in high demand on Fridays, Saturdays and after special events. The rest of the time? Not so much. Tomorrow a committee will vote on legislation that will create a "squad of taxi-cops" that will cite unlicensed cabs and possible take away their cars. Fines could go as high as $5,000. Because the city doesn't have a constant demand for cabs, there will be no effort to increase the number of permits. [NBC Bay Area]
