Golden Gate Park welcomed seven new residents into the park this week. Earlier this year two older female bison had to be put down, so officials were looking to replenish the aging herd. The city purchased seven new bison from a ranch in Redding. "Having the new bison insures that prolonged existence of this area," said San Francisco Zookeeper Sarah King. "I think that's a great thing for the city." [NBC Bay Area/photo via Paul Turner]
