Boats Race, San Diego Yawns

New, 3 comments

It's game time. Boats are on the water and we're not seeing the throngs of crowds that we had expected," said San Francisco Deputy Police Chief James Dudley. A throng of San Francisco officials showed up San Diego the weekend before Thanksgiving to look at planning, security and access for the America's Cup World Series race there. The lack of spectators sent Chief Dudley home early, but other city and race officials remained optimistic about huge crowds in San Francisco in 2012 and 2013. In fairness to San Diego, they had crappy weather that weekend. Plus we're a whole lot prettier. Link includes video worth watching. [ABC Local, plus previously at Curbed SF]
