San Francisco park officials say they have devised a plan to protect the species and keep the 18-hole golf course open? three holes would be reconfigured to protect the most vulnerable natural habitat, and wetlands would be restored. Environmentalists gnash their teeth as our Golfer/Mayor vetoes the BOS legislation that would have turned Sharp Park over to the GGNRA and eventually shut down the golf course. Just who'll pay the estimated $5M for the "reconfiguring" is anyone's guess but Mayor Lee wants to "partner" with San Mateo County. [City Insider/SF Gate, and previously at Curbed SF]
