Snake, Frogs Cautiously Optimistic

Lee had sought? to negotiate and execute a management and habitat-improvement agreement with San Mateo County and not be locked into an agreement with the federal government. Mayor Lee can still veto yesterday's 6-5 vote by the BOS to turn San Francisco's Sharp Park over to the National Park Service. With one of the state's few surviving oceanfront marshes, endangered snakes and lots of frogs, the park's golf course- designed by Alastair MacKenzie and planted by John McLaren- is the source of much environmental agro. Plus it's used mostly by San Mateo County residents. [SF Gate, and previously at Curbed SF. The San Francisco Garter Snake via California Herps]
