[Photos courtesy Safeway Holiday Ice Rink] The construction of a 12-foot Santa Yoda was started on Friday and completed over the weekend at the Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square. The majority of folks who helped construct the statue were children and adult fans of the most epic trilogy of all time. Thinking about taking a stroll downtown to check out the temporary public art? Too bad, because the early bird gets the worm and the statue is being dismantled right now. We suggest checking out the gallery over at SFist if you want a closer view of the statue.
