It looks like the 49ers dream of having a brand spankin' new stadium built for them in Santa Clara is inching closer to realty. Yesterday, the Santa Clara City Council approved $10 million for preparing the site for construction. In a few months, workers will begin clearing a 15-acre site next to the Great America amusement park to make room for the proposed 68,500-seat stadium. If all goes as planned, construction will start on the $1 billion stadium in early 2013. [SFGate]
