The Financial District's Transamerica Pyramid received the LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council today. What's better: the building was awarded the LEED Gold status in 2009, but obviously couldn't settle when they knew something better was available. How'd they score the top highest level of certification in environmental sustainability? The "Transamerica Pyramid LEED team has greatly increased the building's efficiency and decreased waste in the building." Champagne toasts to you, Transamerica Pyramid! [SF Appeal/Josh Sullivan]
