Avant Housing Breaks Ground at 1880 Mission

New, 5 comments

After nearly ten years of drama, the yet-to-be-named development at 1880 Mission Street has finally broke ground. "Bringing this development to reality was fraught with challenges, yet it was all worth it," said Eric Tao, development principal at Avant Housing, LLC. The $60 million, 230,000-square-foot mixed-use project will include 202 residences, a mix of studios; one-, two- and three-bedroom homes; and penthouse lofts, with 20 percent being below market rate housing. There will also be 7,502-square-feet of street-level retail space with 155 below ground parking spaces. Some highlights: the design will incorporate salvaged brick and timber from the original 105-year-old building on the site; many bike-centric designs are built into the project, including 1:1 bike parking, as well as a workbench and tools to fix and maintain your fixie and there's even talk about a community garden in lieu of a swimming pool being installed. Leasing could start as early as Summer 2012. [Curbed Inbox]
