Instead of searching for a vacancy in San Francisco, Stanford is looking at NYC for a second campus. With a heavy heart, we learn from the San Jose Mercury News that Stanford is seeking out a spot in NYC because it wants "greater access to an urban world rich in art, finance, drama, music, high-end media, deep-pocketed philanthropy" and a slew of other things SF apparently can't offer the university. That said, Stanford is one of 27 campuses gunning for the space, including rival Cornell University. [San Jose Mercury News]
