It's been a rough month for dog owners: First, the proposed leash requirements over at GGNRA, and now, evil PetCo is trying to move into the Richmond district. NIMBYs were all up in arms last night at a community meeting over a proposed "Unleashed by PetCo" store taking over a space that has been empty for two years. They say that the new store will put existing local pet stores out of business, and, when accused of being un-American, they site that PetCo Inc. has received many complaints of animal cruelty at their bigger stores. If approved, the new store could open as soon as the end of the summer. [RichmondSF]
