?a disabled person who believes he or she has been aggrieved, has the right to sue. In addition to improving access, there also is a financial incentive to file legal claims. In response to a series of lawsuits about access, Supervisors and other city officials are working to improve access to small businesses under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The incentive? $4K payments per impediment, plus legal fees, paid by the business owner. In the recent past some small local businesses have simply chosen to close rather than comply. [SFGate]
