Mr. Ambassador

Newsom’s role will be to help attract and welcome visitors from other states and abroad to the event, and support efforts to create a “superior fan and participant experience both on and off the water,” as California's new Lieutenant-Governor Gavin Newsom is anointed the 34th America's Cup Ambassador-at-Large. No word on whether the ambassadorship gig is paid, but at least he'll get good seats. Plus we don't see Jerry Brown going on an America's Cup charm offensive any time soon.
