SF Rec & Parks has made the Vigilante Park Bench Painter an honorary member of the department's painting crew. Aaron Perry-Zucker, whose story we pointed you to yesterday, and fellow bench beautifier Max Slavkin were invited yesterday to join official efforts to cover up graffiti on benches and signs in McLaren Park. A nice gesture, but Rec & Parks' chief paint guy (they have one!) doesn't sound like he'll be allowing the two men to continue using their bright deviation from the standard color palette. In that case, it sounds like RPD pulled a Tom Sawyer and got some free help with their painting. [SFExaminer]
