The City of San Francisco will have to pony up $2.4 million to the city's own Public Utilities Commission before it can start building that new park at 17th and Folsom. You'll remember, the city received a $2.7 million grant to build the park, but not to buy the necessary land. Meaning: "the city will essentially lose money to build future parks" by making the purchase. [MissionLoc@l]
