The California Transportation Commission helped seal the fate of the $484 million BART connector project yesterday, by voting unanimously to approve $20 million in state funding for the effort. With initial funding secured, work to construct the 3.2 mile tram linking the Oakland Coliseum BART station to the Oakland Airport could start in as few as 6 months, and will take 3.5-4 years to complete. This was the third time the Commission has voted to approve this funding given prior procedural concerns. Maybe third time's the charm. [SF Appeal]
