Zillow Looks Back, Skittish About a Forecast

Despite the Chronicle's usual optimistic headline (can't say we blame them) real estate evaluation site Zillow says the Bay Area real estate weather remains "mixed" with "scattered revivals" in about two thirds of the zip codes.

Of the region's non-foreclosure sales during the quarter, 31.3 percent were homes that sold at a lossIn general, prices seem to be depressed by the heavy fog of foreclosure sales in an area where about twenty percent of all mortgages are "under water", which is better than last year, where thirty percent were under water. Some of those presumably having washed back up on shore with new owners. One of the new hard-hit areas is Stinson Beach, with prices down over thirty percent. Meaning it may be time to start shopping for that weekend place.
