When the economy tanked, prefab pioneer/rockstar architect Michele Kaufman shut down her prefab business. According to the blog Inhabitat, it's been resurrected and re-jiggered by Blu Homes and as part of their mkDesigns line. Now made in Massachusetts. Which is pretty awesome- Kaufman was seen as the canary in the mine for high-design prefab, and we're glad to see her back. Pics appear to be the original Glidehouse, but apparently the new iteration will be wider and have more flexible plans with drop-in modules and additions. Prices expected to start at $360K, not including shipping, the whole land/permits thing and people to put it together.
