Never mind, unhappy hipsters, we'll take this converted hayloft any day. It popped into our mailbox this morning from Dwell, not only our favorite home-grown shelter magazine but one that fortunately seems to be out-living the global competition in these cruel economic times. The story of a stoic, neglected carriage house in Oakland and its witty yet heroic return as a useful structure in the community of buildings.
