Like a swallow in Capistrano, we know Fall is upon us when that first Architecture and the City email hits our inbox. This year the theme “Investigating Urban Metabolisms:
"?the festival hopes to take an in-depth look at hidden and emergent systems that generate form, movement, growth and entropy in the city."Which means lectures about Hetch-Hetchy! The home tour, a two day marathon modernist open house replete with docents bearing pale-blue booties is seriously popular with both non-architect locals and visitors and and sells out quickly, so it's not too early to get tickets now. The opening party is August 27 followed by a month of pleasure for architecture fans, and this year's film program looks especially compelling, including The Last Wright, a film about Frank Lloyd Wright's 1908 multi-user project in Mason City, Iowa.
