Golden Gate Park Given 40 Trees

New, 6 comments

Chase Freedom, an Outside Lands festival partner, is donating 40 trees to Golden Gate Park. Why? Back in July a crazed (Ed note: our assumption) tree hater cut down over 45 trees in Golden Gate Park in five separate incidents; including 15 young elms that were valued at $500 each. "We are thankful to Chase Freedom for their kindness and generosity and look forward to a rejuvenated Music Concourse area when these beautiful new London Planes are planted and our historic fountains are turned on later this summer," San Francisco Recreation and Park Department General Manager Phil Ginsburg said in a prepared statement. In addition to the trees, Chase Freedom is giving up the cash for four years of specialized care of the trees they've donated.
