On hold

For your daily dose of proposed bocce ball court drama, we bring you today's news that the plan to turn the small patch of lawn on the Embarcadero into two bocce ball courts has been put on hold. As Curbed recently noted, the folks who actually live in the neighborhood (as opposed to the local businesses who are rallying for the courts) were never actually asked what they'd like the space transformed into. Supervisor David Chiu, who's the legislation's sponsor, still backs the proposal, but would like to see "more public discussion and outreach" before the Board of Supervisors votes to accept the $61,000 gift from the Laborers Local 261 to build the bocce courts.
