One step closer to the abyss. The MTA is giving the Golden Gate Bridge Authority $5M to cover the engineering of a suicide barrier for the Golden Gate Bridge, possibly San Francisco's most popular place to finalize the move to whatever's next. The actual cost of building the barrier is estimated to be an additional $45M. Nice round numbers. Translated into trips, the engineering fees equal 833,000 cars through the toll.
