The Chronicle reported last week that "landlords from hell" -- husband and wife Kip and Nicole Macy -- have vanished. The couple were arrested in 2008 after taking some rather extreme measures to evict a tenant from a South of Market apartment they owned, including cutting the support beams holding up the floor in the tenant's upstairs unit. After spending some time in jail, the two were released to await trial, and their passports were confiscated.
But last week, the couple vanished. Prosecutors think they simply renewed their expired passports and left the country. We're sure they'll turn up eventually -- and we can't wait for the Movie of the Week about their adventures on the lam!
