After a state transpo commission vote yesterday, the Doyle Drive replacement project's going to be the first in California to allow private financing — the state would pay contractors a third of the cost upon completion, and the rest on installment over 30 years. A group of engineers protested the change, saying it would double the cost of the project and kill thousands of jobs in the Bay Area, but it looks like those complaints fell on deaf ears. [ABC 7]
