The Architect's Newspaper noted yesterday that SFMOMA's Howard Street expansion will bring roughly 100,000 additional square feet of gallery and public space to the museum's current count of 65,000 square feet of art space. That's about 2.5 times more space for art and sitting down on benches when your feet get tired — no small amount. Also, the SFMOMA director says a bit on how "light in museums is everything, because it so determines the presentation of the art. ... It's a very particular design problem." [Arch Paper, previously]
