The suburbs are trending old, poor, and ethnic, while urban centers are now the targets of "bright flight," where young and predominantly white adults seek "knowledge-based jobs, public transportation and a new city ambiance as an attraction." Meanwhile, the Brookings Institution, author of the report, sees a major "tipping point" in the shift: "The old concepts of suburbia ... are outdated and at odds with effective governance." [AP]
