555 Washington's Outstanding Balance

The Planning Department's pressing the panic button on 555 Washington over $102K the development team owes them for the environmental impact report. Following developer Andrew Segal's strongly worded letter to the Board of Supes, everyone seems to think that if the project gets voted down, the project sponsors would actually renege on their fee obligations — which "seems borderline illegal"! Segal, for his part, insists that's not what he was saying at all. Anyway, when Planning staff gets backed into a wall, they write emails like this: "Please help! WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF FEE REVENUE SUPPORT especially this high amount!!" [City Insider, previously]
